Ilford Imaging Europe GmbH (professional photographs, fine art inkjet papers, etc.) has taken another step into the world of analogue photography with the release of the Ilford Ilfocolor Rapid Retro Edition disposable camera.

This comes hot on the heels of the successful launch of the Ilford Sprite II compact film camera last year. And like the Sprite - originally released in the 1960s - the Ilfocolor Rapid pays homage to Ilford's past: while Ilford is best known for its black and white film and photographic papers, it also sold a wide range of colour negative films, as did Ilfocolor.

It's a great way to try out the look and feel of the film without overdoing it.

The Ilford Ilfocolor Rapid disposable camera is pre-filled with 27 exposures of ISO 400 colour negative film. The fast film and built-in flash combine to make the Ilfocolor Rapid a versatile camera that delivers excellent results outdoors and in low light.

(Unlike many digital cameras), a disposable film camera has an optical viewfinder - essential for shooting in bright sunlight. It is equipped with a fixed-focus, wide-angle (31 mm) f11 lens. Shutter speed is 1/125 sec. The camera captures sharp images from up to 1m away.

It has a pre-loaded AAA battery with a 15-second recharge time, which allows the flash to be used in low light and bright daylight conditions.
